The Pursuit Of Greatness

by Sherlette Rutherford on May 03, 2020

We are people of excellence that have been called to greatness. We have to press unto the mark of the high calling regardless of how we feel. We need to identify strategies and understand access and timing in order to progress. In 2 Kings 2 Elisha knew exactly what he wanted and that was a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. He pursued him but didn’t make a request until verse 9 where Elijah asked him “what may I do for you?” We’ve also seen a similar occurrence in Genesis 32 where Jacob wrestled with God. Jacob said “I won’t let you go until you bless me”. We have to be like Jacob and Elisha and pursuit God for greater. It is our responsibility to chase after God so the world may come to know him through our lives and also that we may see his good works manifested in our lives. As children of God (COG) we need understand that we have been given unhindered access to approach the throne room of grace boldly (Hebrews 4_16). When Jesus hung his head and died on the cross he tore the veil for us to pursue him directly. With a humble spirit we need to go to him like Abraham in Genesis 18_3 He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by”. When we find favor in the sight of God it will direct our paths and it will teach us how to submit to him and pursue him for greater. Be encouraged, be inspired and be blessed!
