What are your wicks made of?
Answer: The only type of wicks used are non-toxic, lead-free, chemical free, bleach free. Some candles contain a cotton core wick and others wooden wick. Wooden wicks are patented by Lumetique Inc. manufactured by the Wooden wick Co.
Why do my wooden wicks crackle?
Answer: Wooden wicks crackle because of a chemical combustion within the cell wall of the wood. As the wick is heated it begins to turn into gas, this gas then reacts with the unchanged wood and causes the crackling sound. Patent information can be found at www.woodenwick.com/patents
Why won’t my wood wick stay lit?
Answer: Wood wicks can be little temperamental at times. During your first light, it helps to tilt your candle and light the edge of the wick so your flame travels from edge to edge. Hold your lighter to the edge or base of your wick for several seconds to get the flame started. If your flame burns out right away, don't panic! It may take several tries. If you find your flame to be small while the candle is lit, you may want to blow it out and trim the wick. Once you have done this you can relight your candle.
Why is my wooden wick flame so small?
Answer: Wooden wick flames can become small if the wick is too long. These wicks should be trimmed after each burn to 3/16” (5mm). If the wick is too long the wax will not pull up the wick, and the flame will dim or even extinguish. Sometimes, if there is too much ash build-up, you will notice the flame getting smaller, but once you remove it, the flame will burn just like it did before. Again, it is also important to keep your candle burning until you have achieved a full melt pool (melted wax across) even if the flame becomes small.
Why is the top of my candle no longer smooth?
Answer: The top of your candle may no longer be smooth because the rate of cooling is inconsistent. It's difficult to control once the candle has been lit and then extinguished. Sometimes it will dry with the rough, uneven surface and sometimes it will dry smooth. Don’t worry, it’s nothing that you did and it does not affect the performance of your candle
Why is my candle tunnelling?
Answer: It is important that your first burn is approximately 2-4 hours or until your candle reaches a full melt pool (melted wax from edge to edge) before you blow your candle out. Doing this will ensure an even burn throughout your candles life. Remember to only burn your candle when you have the time, this way you don’t have to blow it out before it reaches a full melt pool
Why is my wick leaning towards one side?
Answer: If you notice your flame burning on one side of the candle (either too far to the left or right) causing your candle to burn unevenly, gentle take the tip of your wick trimmer, lighter (if you're using a long lighter) or a even a butter knife and push the wick back towards the center.
How to use/Candle safety
Trim cotton wick to ¼ inch after each use to prevent wick from getting too long.
2. Wooden wicks need to be trimmed to 3/16” (5mm). 3. Never burn your candles for more than 4 hours at a time. 4. Always keep burning candle within sight. 5. Candles should be burned on a heat safe surface and always remain in sight. 6. Do not move or touch candle while it's burning as the jar will be very hot. Blow out candle prior to moving and allow time for your candle to cool. 7. Stop burning your candle when ½” of un-melted wax is left. 8. Keep candles away from children and pets. 9. Keep melted wax pool free of debris. 10. Try to avoid extreme temperatures (too hot/ too cold) as this will affect the aesthetic of your candle. 11. Candle burn life may extend beyond 35 hours but varies depending on colour and fragrance.
